16. Integral Damascus Petty

Forged with lots of love and joy - creating a fingerprint pattern with steel serves to be an incredibly joyful experience. It’s a light hearted day in the shop when I make this steel - repetitious, but random cutting, welding and forging. The pattern creates itself and is impossible to replicate. Once the steel has been created, it’s carefully forged to shape, drawing out the deep, thin blade without damaging the bolster. This blade represents the culmination of my studies with both masters, Bill Burke & Jason Knight. Bill taught me the art of damascus while Jason taught me the integral forging process. Thanks guys!
